For the past year we have been facilitating a new series of Action Learning sets for staff at the International HIV/AIDS Alliance HQ, as part of a wider learning and development programme. The set membership represents a diagonal slice through the organisation, so that functions, status and formal hierarchies are mixed. Creating this safe space and regular chance to talk through issues with trusted peers has brought about new, positive ways of working. Set members agreed that being part of an action learning re-awakened and underlined high levels of meaning, contribution and fulfilment open to them in their roles. It also provided challenge to assess their own part in perceived issues and where best to act to affect positive change in organisational culture.
