FAO|ARC Fisheries Project (Stage 2)

Chris Grose, IMA's Managing Director, recently returned from Aceh Province in Indonesia working with the Food and Agriculture Organisation / American Red Cross Fisheries Project to assess the Government's Fisheries and Marine Agency. The team have been focusing on supporting this agency at the District and Province level to identify vision, mission and objectives, including the recently agreed “Aceh Green” Vision which highlights sustainability and locally-based development among its key messages. On agreeing these statements, job descriptions and specifications were agreed through a series of Focus Group Discussions at each District Office.

This process has been enlightening for Agency staff who now feel a real sense of purpose in their job roles and have a clearer understanding of the overall purpose of their organisation. The final stage in this long-term consultancy is to gather information on learning needs of the Agency staff to better carry out their jobs. This will take place over the coming months and Chris will be returning to support this in May this year.
