Leadership training

The Leadership and Management in Development course in Nairobi was a facilitator’s pleasure. The course participants were all very engaged, interested and interesting. What was particularly impressive was their openness and willingness to share their wealth of experiences and ideas with one another. As is so often the case on successful training events, the ideas and support that comes from the group are as important for learning as the topics and concepts introduced by me. And as always, the learning is never one way – I got to learn a lot too.
Our approach to leadership and management development is about helping individuals understand themselves and how they’ve got to where they are now: armed with this understanding we are better able to understand our impact and affect on others –and what we need to do to develop as leaders into the future.  My job is to help people find a leadership style that's authentic for them, appropriate for those they lead and effective in achieving their organisation's mission.
The group really throw themselves into the many interactive activities ('Flying Eggs', 'Cave Rescue' and 'Magic Sticks' to name a few) that helped bring the learning to life; and then explore how to transfer it back to the workplace. For me the most satisfying memory was seeing serious learning and good fun happening simultaneously. A good course - thanks to you all. Roland Webster IMA People Skills trainer.
