Mapping farmers' organisations to identify capacity development

IMA International is supporting the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme (GAFSP) in Bangladesh with capacity development support, training and consulting.  This visit was concentrated in Dhaka and the southern Barisal region of Bangladesh.  The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN (FAO) is managing the capacity development component of this programme in Bangladesh.

One of the areas of capacity development is focused on the increased inclusiveness and participation of key stakeholders in the investment project design and implementation process.  This April mission was to work on the mapping of farmers organisations in the project area and begin to identify capacity development needs. This would  perhaps enable them to partake more fully in investment programme planning, implementation and evaluation.  The photo shows farmers and NGO representatives at a workshop held in Barisal on 26 April 2012.
